General Information:

Attention seniors: If you did not pick up your cap, gown, and/or announcements, please come to the General Office.

Attention Seniors: Please check out the door to the General Office to see if your name is on the list! If so, please be in the Auditorium on Monday May 1, no later than 9:15 am for Senior Awards pictures. Please dress nice! Remember this is a late start so please be on time!

Attention All Students: This year’s musical, Little Women, will be performed for students Friday, April 28, during periods 6 and 7. This will be an excused absence and will not count towards finals. Ticket sales will be this week in front of the cafeteria, before school and during lunch. Tickets are $5. Hope to see you there!

Prom Court Nominations are being accepted. There is a list in the general office. Please write the name of any senior student that you feel deserves to be on Prom Court. The list will be here until Thursday at 3:00 pm.

Clubs:

Student Council members, there will be a meeting this Friday at 7:30am in the auditorium. We will be talking about Executive board elections for next year. If you are interested in being on exec board next year, please attend this meeting!

The Robotics Team is kicking off their annual sock drive, Socks 4 Sox. Help those in our community by donating new socks. This year they will be donated to the Hope Creek Care Center. Please drop them off in the General Office. There will also be a prize drawing – to enter please attach your name to the socks you donate.

Any Interact Club Members who would like to work the Hampton carnival please stop by Mrs. Drish’s office to sign up. The carnival is this Friday, May 28th, and there are 2 shifts available.

Guidance:

Seniors, two new Scholarships have been added to the Scholarship filing cabinet as of April 7th. Come in and take a look!

Sports:

There will be a meeting for football players’ today right after school in the cafeteria.

The UT Boys Tennis Team brought the Silver Streaks to a halt last night to improve their Western Big Six record to 2-0! Winning both doubles and single matches for UT were Thomas McGehee and Brandon Moreno. Also netting key victories for the panthers were Kevin Kipp, Ben Downey, and Louie B. UT next travels to Alleman tomorrow night.

General Information:

All seniors who may be interested in attending Black Hawk College next year will have the opportunity to tour the school and get registration materials on Thursday, April 27th. The school will provide the transportation and this will be an excused absence. If you would like to go you must come in to the counseling office to sign up and pick up a permission slip. You will not be able to go without the signed permission slip. This is a great opportunity to get ready for next year.

All students needing to take the placement test for dual credit should sign up for testing in the Counseling Office. Testing only needs to be done if you are taking English 4 for dual credit. You must have your Black Hawk ID number to test. See Mrs. Drish if you have any questions.

If you have passed classroom Driver Education and have a Permit and would like to take Behind The Wheel 4th Quarter you will need to go to Mr. Burklund’s room 259North before school / during lunch or after school and update your Behind the Wheel Request Card Class Schedule & availability. If you do not update your Behind the Wheel Request card you will not be assigned a Behind the wheel teacher 4th Quarter.

Wingo Night
NHS is hosting a fun night of prizes, hot wings and bingo. Think Bingo isn’t cool? Bingo with awesome prizes, hot wings from some of the best QC location and your friends is always a great time. WINGO night is Thursday, April 20th from 6:30-8pm. Cost is $5 per student. Gather up your friends and get your spot reserved for a great night. Reservations and payment can be made in room 220E before or after school. Bring your $5 to secure your reservation. You $5 gets you hot wings, snacks, drinks and rounds of Bingo and a chance at some fun prizes. See Mrs. Monson in room 220E is you have any questions. This event is open to all UTHS students.

Students and staff members, please remember to submit your nominations for the 4th quarter John Deere special recognition awards. Students of any grade level and staff members can be nominated, but remember that only current seniors are selected to receive the award. The committee will select from 4th quarter nominees on Tuesday, April 18th, so please get your nominations in as soon as possible.

Authentic Voices is bringing The Clothesline Project, once again, to UT. This is a powerful display that gives voice to the trauma of violence against women and children – particularly with rape and domestic violence. You can see the display in Gym B on Thursday, April 6th from 1st through 5th period. Students and staff are invited to attend.

Mr. Teen UT is today Thursday from 7:00- 9:00 pm in the auditorium. Admission is $3

Wednesday – April 5th, UTHS and UTEC juniors will be taking the SAT at school. 9th, 10th and 12th graders will not attend school this day. Cell phones are not allowed in the testing rooms, and students should bring a calculator. The SAT is an IL graduation requirement. Testing will finish at 12:30 with busses home at 12:45. Room assignments for the SAT are posted. Juniors please find your test location. Contact the General Office if there are any issues.
