Sierra-Lee and Johnson both finish 37th at IHSA State Meet

Seniors Eddie Sierra-Lee and Ian Johnson both finished in 37th place at the IHSA State Swim Meet.  Sierra-Lee finished with a 5 dive score of 173.30 and Ian Johnson finished with a time of 22.03 in the 50 Free.  “Both boys did a real nice job on their first trip to the State Meet.  Eddie dove really well and Ian was just a bit off in the 50 but he had a huge time drop last weekend in it so it was going to be an uphill battle to hold it.  We are proud of both boys representing UTHS at the highest level of high school swimming.”

The JV team also opened up its season by downing Burlington 98-64.  The young Panthers won 6 out of 11 events.  Winners for the Panthers were:  Tyler Williams 9150 Free), Steven Pyevich (50 Fly), Seth Hannah (250 Free), Tajaun Stacy (50 back), 100 Medley Relay (Aaron Flemming, Alex Verschoore, Cameron Hetzel, Cody Popejoy), and the 200 Free Relay (Seth Hannah, Ryan Hannah, Christian Tygart, Williams).  “It was a good experience for all of the JV kids.  We have a lot of first year kids and we only had a couple of disqualifications.  All of them got in three or four races and did well in all of them.”
