Congrats to the girls swim team as they opened up the 2010 season by running all over the Burlington Greyhounds 122-49 at the UT Pool.The junior varsity team came up on the short end of the leash and dropped their first meet 70-38.

UTHS Vocal Jazz group will hold auditions next Tuesday, 8/31, and Wednesday, 9/1.  Rehearsals for the audition will be after school this Wednesday and Thursday.  All audition material is also available online.  Pick up an information hand-out from the general office or from Mrs. Minard in the choir room.  If you like Glee and Sing Off! then you need to be a part of this group.  We will sing all American Jazz and contemporary pop tunes for concerts and various community performances throughout the school year.

Attention All National Honor Society Members:  The East Moline Soccer Club needs volunteers for Saturday & Sunday, Sept 4^th & 5^th, to work their annual Labor Day Tournament.  See Celeste Raya or Mrs. Mital TODAY to sign up for a time slot.  This is an opportunity to help your community and earn Individual Volunteer Hours.  Also, Dues and Letters of Commitment are past due and T-shirt orders will be placed on Monday, August 30^th after school.  All members who still need to submit their Dues or Letter of Commitment should do so immediately to Mrs. Mital in 151N.  Finally, thanks to all members who have helped or are signed up to recycle and have made this project a success!

On Friday, freshman, sophomore and junior students will be testing.  Testing room assignments are posted in some classrooms and hallways.  Please report to your testing room by 8:00 am so we can begin right away. The test students take is determined by your class, as defined by credits earned. Freshman will take the Explore test, sophomores will take the PLAN and juniors will take a practice ACT test.  These tests will help predict how you will do on the PSAE and ACT in your junior year.  Please try your best.

Senior students will attend post-high school planning sessions including presentations by 5 colleges, the military, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Plumbers and Pipefitters, and the Success Network which will talk about getting a job right out of high school. There will also be a session on scholarships.  You will pick 3 out of six sessions to attend.  We will then have the Prairie State Achievement Exam Incentive Assembly and the senior class panoramic picture will be taken. Please report to Gym B by 8:00 am.  There will be attendance prizes.  Seniors will be dismissed after the panoramic picture and all other students will be dismissed at 11:35.

Speech Team is starting early! All students who are interested in Speech Team this year should attend a short meeting today Wednesday, August 25, in Room 128 East immediately after school. The meeting will not take more than 15 or 20 minutes. If you want to be on Speech Team, it is important to attend! Past speech teamers – bring at least one friend to join the team. See you then!
