UTHS earned a bronze medal in U.S. News and World Report‘s annual ranking of schools.  UT is the only Illinois Quad City school to earn this distinction.

According to the U.S. News and World Report website, schools are eligible if “The school attains performance levels that exceed statistical expectations given the school’s relative level of student poverty, as measured by state accountability test scores for all the school’s students in the core subjects of reading and math.”  Schools must also “achieve proficiency rates on state tests for its least-advantaged student groups that are equal to or exceed state averages” as well as “graduate its students at a rate that surpasses a basic national standard.”  The final standard is for the school to “prepare its students for college, as measured by student participation in and performance on AP exams.”
