At the half-time of this past Friday’s boys’ basketball game, a moving memorial was unveiled to honor UTHS students who made the ultimate sacrifice in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War.

The large plaque was paid for by fund-raising efforts by the UTHS Class of 1967, who raised $21,000.  Student organizations had input, also.  UTHS art students helped design the memorial, and the welding classes designed and built a cart to allow the heavy plaque to be portable.

Friday’s half-time ceremony included family members of the men listed on the plaque, many veterans, an honor guard from Silvis, and representatives of the Class of 1967.
