Seniors: Feeling like royalty these days? This message is for you! If you are interested in running for the 2023-24 homecoming court, see Ms. Ellen in the school store, located in the commons area, on Wednesday, August 30 and Thursday, August 31 during 4th, 5th, and 6th periods. There will be no exceptions made for late entries. Good luck!


Picture Day is around the corner. Mark these dates on your calendar so you are picture ready on your scheduled day. Monday, September 11 is for Seniors, UTEC, and Remote students. Tuesday, September 12 is for Juniors and Sophomores. Wednesday, September 13 is for Freshmen. Faculty and Staff may stop by either of the three days for their picture session.  Photographic Arts will be at UTEC for UTEC and Remote students and staff. All other pictures will be taken in the UT auditorium during English classes. Seniors who DO NOT have an English class this semester can visit the auditorium anytime between 7:30am and 3:00pm on Monday the 11th. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Green in 126E.

Have you ordered your 2023-24 Skyline Vol 81 yet? If not, you have until December 11 to preorder your copy of the annual keepsake. Yearbooks may be purchased in the General Office or online for $50. Checks, cash, and credit are accepted. The cost of books increases to $60 if purchased AFTER December 11. There will be a limited supply of extra books on delivery day, so get those books ordered ASAP to ensure you get your copy. You don't want to miss out!

GUIDANCE:

It is AP testing sign up time. If you are in AP chemistry, Art, Spanish, or Computer Science classes, you will sign up with your teacher. For all other AP testing, please come to the counseling office and ask for the signup sheet. See Mrs. Whitcher if you have any questions.

College Visits are back! Sign up in the counseling office to speak with college representatives.

CLUBS:
Do you have a feel for the news and events that are important to UT students? Join The Outlook Club as we start up The Panther Post, a UT-specific newspaper that covers a variety of events and gives students a voice on news and issues. Anyone who is interested in contributing stories and/or helping with layout, design, ideas, proofing, etc. should join our first meeting Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 3:15 in room 123E.

"Gamer's Club will meet this Friday from 3 to 5 in 225E.

"Anyone interested in joining the speech team should sign the commitment form outside Mr. Greer's room, 224E, by Thursday, August 31st. Veterans, please initial next to your names to signify your recommitment. Did you miss the informational meeting? No problem! Stop by 224E or 216S, or email Mr. Greer or Ms. Weber to get the information slides."

"Registration for the Illinois High School Theatre Festival is now open. This conference, held at Illinois State University January 11-13, is the largest non-competitive high school theatre conference in the world. Over 4,000 students, teachers, exhibitors, and volunteers come together to view over 25 different high school performances and over 150 workshops. Workshops range from acting, singing, dancing, directing, costume design, special effects makeup, prop building, and much more! Any interested Panther Player (even those not involved in the fall play) should stop by Mr. Greer's room, 224E for information and paperwork.

Do these things sound interesting or fun? Then maybe the STEM Club is the club for you.  Come do these and other exciting things with Mr. LeGate and Mr. DuPage in room 192V.  That is the classroom in the vocational wing where all the magic happens. Our first meeting will be on September 7th in room 192V. Come enjoy the hour of power Every Monday and Thursday from 3:15 to 4:15. Are you involved in sports and can’t make it?  That fine, come join us after your season is over. We will be doing strange and interesting stuff all year long. Hope to see you there Sept. 7th in room 192V.

UTime Announcement
 If you ever get stressed, feel exhausted by everyday life, or just don’t want to show up some days, it might be time for a little UTime!
 UTime is an after school club for students who want to learn more about wellness and taking care of  themselves and their emotions.  Topics this year include therapy pets, yoga, mindfulness, essential oils, and much, much more.
Beginning September 7, UTime will meet on Thursdays in the seminar room of the library from 3:15 to 4:45.  There is an activity bus to take you home.  You do need a permission slip to attend which you can get in the counseling office.
 Come join us at this fun and informative club, because don’t we all deserve a little UTime?

Are you a fan of Art?
If you are interested in Learning how to be a better artist, just interested in new art techniques, want to know more about art or want to hang out with a bunch of just awesome people and a really cool teacher you should come to our first meeting, on Tuesday September 5th in room 187V.  This year we will discuss painting, sculpture, drawing and even stained glass.  If you are interested or have, any questions contact Mrs. Jackson
