The deadline to preorder a 2023-24 Yearbook is quickly approaching. The last day to preorder a book is December 11, so order your book today. The cost is $50. You may purchase a yearbook in the General Office with cash or check, checks made payable to UTHS, or online through Skyward. Please do not use REV-TRAK on the UT website to order online. After December 11, the cost increases to $60 and there will be a limited number of extra books to buy in May.

Have you ever thought about zip lining through the rainforest, seeing sloths and monkeys in real life, or strolling along some of the most beautiful beaches in the world? Well then, we have a trip for you! Come and learn about a trip to Costa Rica and Panama happening in the summer of 2025. There will be an informational meeting December 14th at 5:30 in 259 N. See Ms. Ripslinger in 259N for more information. 

This quarter’s read and win prize goes to Bayleigh Wierenga. Bayleigh, please come down to the library for your gift card. The read and win program is open to all, and simple to participate. Fill out a form on the library's website after you have read a book. For any questions, please see a library staff member.

GUIDANCE:

'Students who recently took the ASVAB, your scores are in!!!  Contact James Davis in the Guidance Office to receive a copy of your score.  Also, a representative from ASVAB will be at UT this Thursday, December 7 at 1:00 p.m.  Students wanting to review their overall 
scores with the ASVAB representative should sign up in the Guidance Office for the visit.'

"Steve Varcoe, ASVAB representative, will be at UT today at 1:00 pm to go over the results of the ASVAB test with students who took the test on November 15, 2023.  Students should bring their Chromebooks (fully charged).   

If you want to know where to find career satisfaction, you need all the facts about your skills and interests, the world of work, and your post-secondary options to make informed decisions.  To find out what your career interest is, plan to attend this review."    

CLUBS:

"Buzz buzz! Hey Honey Bees! Don't forget you have until this Friday, December 8th to rsvp or respond and let us know if you'll be attending Hot Cocoa & Chill after school on Tuesday December 12th! As always, talk to Ms. Reick or Ms. Clearman if you have any questions!"

LGBT+ club is having a meeting next week in Miss Williams’s room 125E, after school, on Wednesday December 13. The club will be doing holiday crafts and listening to music, and everyone is encouraged to bring a treat to share. Anyone is welcome to come check it out and have a good time!

Student Council will be collecting Hats and Mittens outside the auditorium on December 15 starting at 7:15 am. Come stop by with a donation to get a cup of tasty hot chocolate to start your morning off right.

There will be a student council meeting this Friday at 7:30 just outside the auditorium! We will be making holiday cards for people in a local nursing home! Get into the holiday spirit and come join us for our last meeting of this semester!

Mark your calendars! UT will be hosting a dance marathon on January 13 to raise funds for the University of Iowa children’s hospital! If you are interested in a night full of fun for a good cause, keep an eye out for more information in the next few weeks.

SPORTS:

"There will be a mandatory informational meeting for students interested in joining the boy’s track and field team after school on Thursday, December 14th in the Commons.  In season athletes should talk to Coach H. in room 234 to get information for joining the Google Classroom."

"The Girls Varsity bowlers picked up 2 wins this week to improve to 3 - 0 on the season. On Tuesday, they defeated Sterling and on Wednesday, they rolled past Geneseo. Top bowlers were Kloey Miner, Alicia Limon, Katie Fox and Rilynn Birdsley.The Junior Varsity split their matches this week and are now two wins with one loss. They dropped the match against Sterling but picked up the win against Geneseo. Top performers were: Ava Kapua, Cortnee McBride, Haven Nowlin and Camila Salinas-Adame."
