"The speech team went to two separate tournaments this weekend and found themselves successful! The majority of the team went to Rock Falls and placed third overall. Varsity champions were Elijah Davila - Extemporaneous Speaking, Alexis Shaefer -  Original Oratory, and Iris Stockwell - Poetry. The Regional Team left Friday for the two-day Downers Grove South Varsity tournament. There they competed against 52 other teams! Mazah Sherif, Averie Niemi, and Vanessa Williams broke semi-finals for their respective events, and Vanessa placed 6th in the next-in final round of prose reading. This placed her 12th out of 80 competitors in the event! The team heads to its last regular season tournament this weekend before beginning the state series. Wish them luck!"

"The speech team is looking for more actors and actresses for its Performance in the Round which will perform at the state series in February. We have advanced PIR to the state tournament 6 times over the last 8 years, and we are working to do it again! Contact Mr. Greer at agreer@uths.net for more information."
