Are you interested in learning more about how school government works? The UTHS Board of Education has decided to start a student Board of Education Liaison member. 2 students will be selected through an interview process and will be seated beginning at the January 13, 2025 board meeting. A job description and application is available in the General Office, as well as on the UTHS website. Applications will be accepted through 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 7.

Tonight the Tri-M Music Honor Society is hosting the annual Music Bingo Night in the Commons. Doors open at 6pm, Games start at 6:30pm. The $10 admission includes two Bingo cards. We will also sell potato bar concessions and raffle tickets for awesome baskets. Raffle baskets include tickets to Chicago White Sox and Chicago Wolves Hockey, St. Louis Cardinals, autographed baseball from Cubs' Justin Steele; Peoria, Chicago, and local museums and attractions; Vibrant Coffeehouse, Octeen, Sonic, Dairy Queen and several others. This year's theme is Broadway, and there is a special prize for whoever has the best Broadway-themed costume. For those who can't attend, but want to purchase raffle tickets, see Dr. Minard or your favorite music student.

GUIDANCE:

Seniors - several scholarships are now open for applications. Please check the list in the counseling google classroom or stop by the counseling office to look at the list.

Students, if you have committed to the Armed Forces (Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Navy, Air Force, Space Corps, Coast Guard, or Marines), please see Mr. Davis as soon as possible. We want to recognize you at the UTHS Veterans Day Assembly on Monday, November 11. So, if you have committed to joining the Armed Forces, see Mr. Davis. Today is the last day to get on the list. Be sure to see Mr. Davis by 6th period.

"Students, the US Armed Services will be administering the ASVAB test to UT students on Wednesday, November 13. If you are interested in taking the ASVAB test, please sign up in the Guidance Office.Also, interested students should go online and search for ASVAB Practice Tests. Practice tests are designed to help with the actual test.

If you need more information on ASVAB, see your Guidance Counselor or Mr. Davis, the College & Career Advisor."

CLUBS:

Auto body and Auto Mechanics is a fascinating field that combines creativity, technical skills, and a passion for cars. Many young people dream of building their own vehicles, and the Gearheads club provides a fantastic opportunity to turn that dream into reality. Members gather in the auto mechanics lab every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15 to 5:15 to work on transforming a Ford Explorer into a dragster. For more information, see Mr. Ron or Mr. Thirtyacre.

SPORTS:

“Anyone interested in playing girls basketball this year, the first day of tryouts will be on Monday, November 4th. Varsity at 6:00am and 3:20pm in Gym B. Sophomore/Freshmen at 3:20pm in Gym B. All tryout information is in Google Classroom. If you have any questions, see Coach Pavelonis.”

There will be a boys basketball meeting after school in the commons on Wednesday, November 6th for anyone interested in trying out.
